چکیده

Abstract This article describes the genome browser of plant Arabidopsis thaliana as an inspiration for creation geometric artworks developed with code. Genome browsers are bioinformatic tools that life scientists use to access and visualize sequence data from species interest. The presented inspired by provide aesthetic interpretations genes their genomic contexts individual artist alternatively conventional scientific visualization data.

Generative Art Inspired by Nature, Using NodeBox

NodeBox is a free application for producing generative art. This paper gives an overview of the nature-inspired functionality in NodeBox and the artworks we created using it. We demonstrate how it can be used for evolutionary computation in the context of computer games and art, and discuss some of our recent research with the aim to simulate (artistic) brainstorming using language processing t...

3D Interface Inspired by Constructivist Art Principles

Concepts of form and space from the realm of art have in the past provided inspiration for designers seeking to explore new models for interface design. This paper is a conceptual evaluation that investigates issues encountered when the Constructivist art of Laslar Lissitzky, and his series of “Proun” paintings, are used to inspire and inform design decisions for a web browser history interface...

UTGB toolkit for personalized genome browsers

UNLABELLED The advent of high-throughput DNA sequencers has increased the pace of collecting enormous amounts of genomic information, yielding billions of nucleotides on a weekly basis. This advance represents an improvement of two orders of magnitude over traditional Sanger sequencers in terms of the number of nucleotides per unit time, allowing even small groups of researchers to obtain huge ...

Art-Inspired Modeling and Visualization

The mathematical investigations of Roger Penrose inspired Dutch artist M.C. Escher to illustrate in his drawings the constructive elements of this world. We introduce unusual higher-dimensional computer reconstructions of some drawings for presenting our research results in solving geometric modeling problems arising from analysis of Escher’s artworks. The following identified problems had no g...

Time Stretch Inspired Computational Imaging

We show that dispersive propagation of light followed by phase detection has properties that can be exploited for extracting features from the waveforms. This discovery is spearheading development of a new class of physics-inspired algorithms for feature extraction from digital images with unique properties and superior dynamic range compared to conventional algorithms. In certain cases, these ...
